I placed 1 order but have more than 1 charges on my credit card.

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

This is a very common question (and concern).

You placed an order in our store www.LuckyEyesOnline.com and when you go to check your credit card statement you found that there are more than 1 charge for the same order.  This is when you enter you credit card payment at the checkout process but the transaction is denied for several causes. Here we explain why this happens.

When a card issuing bank receives a card number and an authorization request for a charge, they will confirm that the card number is attached to a valid account, and verify the account has enough available funds to cover the requested amount. If the funds are in fact available, the card issuing bank will reserve the funds and return an authorization code.

The card issuing bank would also submit the cardholder’s billing address to our payment processor’s Address Verification Service (AVS) which return, along with the authorization code, an AVS response to indicate whether or not the billing address matches the bank’s records.

If a given AVS response is checked in our Address Verification Service settings, any transaction that is returned by the card issuing bank with that AVS response would be marked as Declined and will not be settled.

Know that even if the transaction is marked as Declined due to AVS Mismatch, the authorization code, along with the hold on the authorized funds, will remain on the customer’s card until the card issuing bank removes the authorization. As a result, the held funds may be subtracted from the customer’s available balance, and an online statement may reflect the authorization request which might be mistaken for an actual charge. Most card issuing banks will remove authorizations within 3-7 days if they are not claimed for settlement.

We cannot remove existing authorizations from a customer’s credit card. However, since the card issuing bank provided the authorization code, they will be able to remove the authorization. Card issuing banks may require us to call or fax documentation, or may be able to assist the customer directly. Regardless of the card issuing bank’s internal process for removing the authorization, they would need the authorization code in order to identify which authorization to remove.

Now, you know: if your credit card was declined you’ll find in your statement charges that will disappear within 3-7 days. Please, call us asap and we’ll provide you with the authorization code you will need to provide them.
